Last night the Government announced that today's deadline for furloughing employees who have not been furloughed before, will not apply to employees on statutory maternity or paternity leave where they would otherwise be returning to work following a long period of absence provided their employer has previously furloughed employees. These rules also apply to people on adoption leave, shared parental leave, and parental bereavement leave. To read the announcement click here.
Updated guidance on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme including more details on this change will be published by the Government on 12 June.
