Acas has published new guidance to help employers handle collective redundancies. The new advisory booklet includes a ten-point checklist for handling collective redundancies as well as covering special cases such as TUPE and insolvency, and also includes a sample redundancy agreement and redundancy selection matrix.
The guidance was published on 6 April 2013 - the same date the minimum consultation required before dismissals can take effect when an employer is proposing 100 or more redundancies was reduced from 90 to 45 days.
