Government guidance for employers on coronavirus (COVID-19) testing

The Government has issued guidance for employers on testing for coronavirus (COVID-19), recognising that as well as their own NHS Test and Trace programme being in place, employers may be considering or already running testing programmes for their staff.

The guidance covers:

• the legislation, regulations and guidance for employers
• virus and antibody testing
• how to interpret test results, and
• steps to take after a positive or negative test.

The introduction to the guidance makes it clear that the guidance does not replace the need for independent legal advice or supersede existing legal obligations for employers.
