Increase in ET compensation limits – from 6 April 2021

The limit on a week’s pay for statutory purposes, including calculating statutory redundancy pay, increased from £538 to £544. The maximum basic award for unfair dismissal increased to £16,320, and the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal increased to £89,493.

Claimants bringing injury to feelings claims, on or after 6 April 2021 will, if successful be awarded on the basis of the following updated Vento bands.

Lower band - £900 to £9,100

Middle band - £9,100 - £27,400

Upper band - £27,400 - £45,600

In exceptional circumstances, tribunals may award in excess of £45,600.
