Menopause in the workplace

The Government Equalities Office has launched an inquiry to examine the extent of discrimination faced by workers experiencing symptoms of menopause in the workplace and investigate how Government policy and workplace practices can better support them..  A 2019 survey conducted by BUPA and the CIPD found that three in five menopausal women were negatively affected at work.

The inquiry calls for evidence from individuals and organisations and asks about the nature and extent of discrimination faced by women experiencing the menopause, how this impacts wider society, how businesses can factor in the needs of employees going through the menopause and how practices addressing workplace discrimination relating to menopause could be implemented.
