A new Treasury Direction has been issued by HM Treasury. This amendment is the sixth Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) Direction and confirms some previously announced amendments to the scheme, including:
- Extending the scheme until 30 April 2021 (this direction covers from 1 February until 30 April 2021)
- Clarifying that the calculations for ‘usual hours’ and furlough pay should be calculated with reference to the pay period of March/April 2019 (rather than 2020 because by then many employees will have already been on furlough)
- Pushing the deadline for making amendments to a claim under the scheme back from the 15th to the end of the following month (so for example, a claim for February could now be amended until 31 March).
