End of shielding support

Yesterday the Government announced its plans to ease guidance for those who have been shielding from Covid-19.

Among the plans is that shielding support will end on 31 July 2020. This means that employers will no longer be able to claim a grant for employees who were issued an NHS shielding letter, and subsequently furloughed.

The Government guidance states that from 1 August 2020, those individuals who were shielding, who need to work and cannot do so from home, will be able to return to work as long as their workplace is COVID secure.

If you have any employees who are currently shielding you should carry out an individual risk assessment for them, if you haven't already, so that you are ready for them to return to work safely on 1 August.

Inevitably, there will be questions about pay for those who are unable to return to work, so give us a call at KLC if you would like to discuss.
