Fire and Rehire

The Government has launched the first of a number of consultations on its proposals to greatly inhibit the ability to fire and rehire (or as it was known for decades before the P&O Ferries debacle, dismissal and re-engagement).

Readers will be aware that when implemented, it will be automatically unfair to dismiss and re-engage employees when they do not agree to changes to their contracts, other than for relatively unimportant matters.

This change in the law will have a profound effect on an employer’s ability to respond to changes in markets and the economy, and will be one of the topics we will discuss on the Spring Law on Tour https://klcemploymentlaw.com/law-on-tour.
